Budgeting Money when you’re Young
When you talk about budgeting, you probably think about how a family plans their money, or maybe you picture someone older who can’t manage his own money well and has to resort to a budget.
Whether you’re 15, 25, or 55, you should have some sort of budget. In fact, budgeting is even more important when you are young.
Teenagers Budgeting Money
Teenagers don’t usually have very much money, but they have few expenses as well. Budgeting money as a teen has several purposes and advantages. First of all, it can help them save for the things they want and need such as a car or save towards college. Even with the meager wages they do receive, with a good budget, they can afford to buy more than just snacks and movie tickets.
The even more important advantage for teens budgeting their money is that it teaches them about money management when they are young. So many adults mismanage their money. They get into debt and make very poor spending choices because they never learned how to manage their money when they were younger.
If you a teenager can learn how to budget when he is young, his entire life will be different. Money affects all part of our lives. Learn how to budget and make financial goals and expect much less financial struggle.
Young Adults Budgeting Money
Even if someone didn’t learn correct money management when they were a teen, they can still make a huge impact by learning good money management and budgeting skills in their 20s. Just think about how much more money someone could save for retirement if they start saving and contributing towards a retirement account in their 20s as apposed to their 30s or 40s.
As a young adult, you should set up a budget that you can follow. It should allow you to save towards retirement, emergencies, a home, car, etc. while still allowing you to live an entertaining life. Set goals that you can achieve by carefully monitoring your expenses and spending only on things you need and can afford.
